Listen to music with your heart. It`s pure love..
How would you describe your music style, in non-technical terms?
Groovy, Soulful and Jazzy. I like spicing up simple tunes by adding percussive or brass elements from other tracks. Happy and sexy sounding music.
How and why did you decide to become a DJ?
I loved the fact that I can mix tunes and present music in a way that enables people to enjoy themselves. I was immediately draw to the technology aspect of it as well.
Tell us a bit about your fans.
I generally attract positive people. People who see life for more than what it is and folks who understand that music is a source of positive energy. I have worked with club and corporate audiences but the ones I feel connect to the most are the people who love to smile and know how to let their minds and bodies free on the dance floor.
What are your top 3 influences? Doesn't have to musical.
I'm very influenced by artists who were able to create their own thing and captivate people and shake the ground. I love Aretha Franklin's voice. I like how Cadenza/Luciano present and brand their events. I'm also very heavily influenced by cultures and how music defines life. From African drums and groove to the beautiful, sorrow songs of Ireland..I'm a sucker for music with identity..
Any guilty pleasure(s)?
food trucks .. :)
All-time favorite track(s)?
So many to list but: Long Train Running and Sweet Home Chicago are way up top. Big fan of the blues and the grand masters that shape musical genres in general.
What is your favorite festival, why?
Anything near mountains or water. I love being close to nature and absorbing beauty, feeding off the openness and combining it with great music.
Funniest/weirdest thing that ever happened during a gig?
Someone who didn't have a valid ID, tried to first bribe security, then pulled out a Freemasons ID Card ... neither helped :)
What advice do you have for someone looking to book a DJ? Other than "book me!" ;)
Most of the time, with Djs.. what you pay is what you get. Often times people will book a DJ solely based on their fee. When you look at fees, take into account the experience, knowledge, professionalism and your personal requirements, that the DJ will have to abide by.
Anything else you'd like to share (optional)?
I love small rooms and more intimate events. I like to communicate with a crowd whenever possible, using just music and the energy it brings. It's always personal ..
