Taking Lovers Of Great Music On A Journey

About Deap Soma
DeapSoma is a DJ, producer, and musician, born and raised in New York City. He’s known for mixing and producing a wide array of energetic sub-genres of house music. Deapsoma masterfully connects the dots from modern electronic based music, to ancestral dance music containing various continental, and elemental soundscapes, including organic elements from the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe, to name a few.
His early upbringing in a musical Cuban family allowed him to view the world through a harmonic lens. His father is a music historian with a passion for many genres of music, this alone gave DeapSoma a diverse palate with access to thousands of vinyl’s, cassettes, and cd's as well as the ability to understand artists like Celia Cruz, Benny More, and Orquesta Aragon. His father also exposed him to artists such as, Santana, Pink Floyd, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Smokey Robinson, Led Zeppelin, Roy Ayers, and volumes more. Moreover, he was fortunate enough to have been introduced to 90’s house music by his cousin who was part of the active house DJ/Producer culture of the times. Throughout his teenage years he experienced co-producing hip hop tracks with his friends which sparked his interest in music creation.
Deapsoma is also a percussionist, who on occasion lends his knowledge of campanas (cowbells), claves, and several other organic percussive elements to projects. His passion of sound encourages both the listener and dancer alike to follow him on a metaphysical journey. He is undeniably ready to share his uplifting and energetic musical vibes with the world.
